I took this place after reading Trip Advisor reviews. I knew the street was not as central as those near the carhedral but I wanted quiet and I don't mind crazy local streets...it makes a holiday in Asia authentic.

I recently stayed in the Royal Palace when I was on a business to trip to Hanoi. I found the staff to be very helpful and accommodating to my needs.

For our first stay in Hanoi, the Royal Palace provided a perfect stay. It is located conveniently close to the busiest blocks of the Old Quarter but you can walk out of the hotel at any time without being confronted by constant commercialism of street sellers and people offering transport.
